Terms

The agreement between you and us. Written to be read, in the same spirit as the privacy page: if a clause only makes sense to a lawyer, it is badly written.

Last updated 9 October 2026.

The short version. We read the school mail you already get and turn it into one dated list. We are not your school and we do not speak for it. We can be wrong, and where we might be we say so on the item itself. You can leave whenever you like and we will delete everything.

Who you are agreeing with

ParentChill Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17497787. Registered office: 66 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NA. You can reach us at hello@parentchill.co.uk.

Using ParentChill means you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use it.

What ParentChill does

It brings what your child’s school sends you into one place: letters, dates, deadlines and payments, read out of your own email or the school’s own published pages, and shown as a list and a daily briefing.

What it is not:

⚠ We can be wrong, and this is the clause to read

We read what a school writes, and schools write in prose meant for people. A date can be misread, a letter can be ambiguous, and a school can change something without telling anyone.

So ParentChill is a prompt, not the record. Where an item rests on something we worked out rather than something stated plainly, the item says so. Where a school’s own page contradicts what we read, the item says that too. For anything that matters — a payment deadline, a trip, a medical form — check it with the school.

We do not promise the list is complete. Anything held inside a school system we have not been given access to is not in it, and the app says which those are.

Your account

You need to be 18 or over and a parent or carer of the children you add. Keep your passphrase to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with your account.

⚠ We cannot recover your saved school logins if you forget your passphrase. They are encrypted with a key derived from it, and nobody can read them without it — us included. Resetting gets your account back and destroys the saved logins. That is the design, not a fault, and the reset email says it before you click.

Children, and ChillCheck

Where a child has their own device paired, what they see and what you see is settled between you: we will not show you your child’s completion state unless you have switched it on and they have agreed on their own screen.

⚠ A child can object to us using their school records at any time, and their objection wins over your permission. That is their right under Article 21 of the UK GDPR, not something we grant them.

What it costs

£12 a month per school relationship, after the free period. Prices include VAT where it applies. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before any price change, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Cancelling

Cancel whenever you like, from the app. Your access runs to the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing is taken after that.

Your 14-day right to change your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you may cancel within 14 days of starting a paid subscription and get your money back. If you asked us to start straight away, we may keep a proportionate amount for the days you used. Email hello@parentchill.co.uk and we will sort it.

⚠ If a payment fails

We will tell you, and your card issuer will be asked again over the following fortnight. If it keeps failing we suspend the account. We do not cancel it and we do not delete anything until we have actually reached you. Your children, your list and your saved logins stay where they are, and one card update brings it all back.

Stopping, on either side

You can delete your account from the app at any time. Everything goes: children, items, saved logins, the lot, and the forwarding address stops working.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used to get at somebody else’s family data, to break the law, or to attack the service. We will tell you why unless telling you would make it worse.

We may stop offering ParentChill. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email and refund anything paid for time you will not get.

If something goes wrong

We will take reasonable care, and we are responsible for loss we cause that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care.

We do not limit our liability where the law does not let us — for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Nothing here takes away a right you have as a consumer.

Otherwise, and because this is a £12-a-month service rather than an insurance policy, our liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the problem, or £100. We are not liable for a missed deadline, trip or payment where the underlying information came from the school and we passed on what they said.

Changes to these terms

If we change anything that matters, we will email you at least 30 days beforehand and the date at the top will change. Carrying on using it after that means you accept the new version; if you would rather not, cancel and we will refund the unused part.

Complaints

Email hello@parentchill.co.uk or use the complaints form. For anything about your data you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, though we would rather you came to us first.

The legal bits

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — though if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings there.

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still stands. You may not transfer this agreement to someone else; we may transfer it if the business is sold, and we will tell you if that happens.

How we handle your family’s information is set out separately in our privacy notice, which forms part of this agreement.
